Not long ago, one of our Email Warriors here at the Great British PAC put a question to me that deserves a straight answer: “Are we making a difference? I’ve never seen a response to any of our email campaigns.”
It is a fair thing to ask. There are days when it can feel as if we are shouting into the wind — ignored, sidelined, drowned out. So let me be absolutely clear with you: every email sent, every post shared, every comment left and every petition signed is another brick laid in the foundation of genuine change.
No movement is built overnight. Movements are built on persistence — on the courage to keep speaking out when the establishment would far rather we held our tongues. The moment ordinary people watch others find their voice, they are emboldened to find their own. And once that momentum takes hold, the tide turns.
Real-World Impact
Let me hand you some concrete examples.
The Blasphemy / Islamophobia consultation. When Labour tried to rig the consultation — silencing the public and threatening a deathblow to free speech — our actions counted. Together we challenged the stitch-up. As Nick Timothy MP confirmed himself, it was Great British PAC pressure that forced the consultation onto indefinite hold. That was people power in action.
British Wheelchair Basketball. At first there was nothing but silence — no reply to our complaints at all. And then came an apology: an official, public admission that their conduct had been unacceptable. Picture what must have been happening behind the scenes — inboxes overflowing, staff under pressure, awkward questions raised in boardrooms, advisors warning that public outrage simply could not be brushed aside.
That apology was not handed over willingly. It was won through persistence. And it fired a warning shot at every other organisation: the public will not tolerate conduct that undermines British values.

Writing to MPs. Too often the reply is a standard form letter, or nothing whatever. But do not mistake silence for impotence. Every email stacks up the pressure behind closed doors. Admin staff brief their MPs. Concerns seep into corridor conversations. Items land on meeting agendas. Public opinion can no longer simply be waved away.
Petitions: More Than Signatures
Some will tell you petitions achieve nothing. I disagree. They shine a spotlight, they generate publicity, and they can open doors inside Parliament. During our Chagos campaign, one petition reached 10,000 signatures. That exposure drew fresh donations, which in turn helped fund the judicial review defending Chagosian plaintiff Misley Mandarin. Without the petition, none of that momentum would ever have got off the ground.
The Death of a Thousand Cuts
Think of our movement not as a single mighty blow but as the relentless pressure of a thousand cuts. Each challenge chips away at the arrogance of an establishment far too accustomed to going unopposed.
We are now over 300 Email Warriors strong. Imagine what we can achieve across the next four years as our numbers keep growing.
So to anyone who wonders whether it matters: yes, it does. The victories may be quiet, often invisible, but they are victories all the same. Together, we are shifting the ground beneath their feet.
This is people power. And it is only just beginning.
